Wild Duck Creek Estate
Mallard
Riesling
Vintages: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021
A textural dry Riesling full of citrus zest and cleansing natural acidity.
A blend of two vineyards, the first at Spring Plains on Heathcote’s southernmost border, and Tooborac in the South-eastern border. Both cool sites bringing a lengthening of ripening, and helping to retain beautiful natural acidity.
Tasting Notes
Taken from the same 25-year-old vineyard in the cool valley of Tooborac as in previous releases. A short time soaking on skins pre-fermentation, then 20% of the wine was fermented in a new French oak puncheon, with the remainder in stainless. The aromas leap from the glass and are of lime and limestone, curd and green apple. The palate delivers a beautiful natural acidity, framing the pink grapefruit flavours and cumquat nuances. All leading to a thrilling tart and pithy finish. Bottled May 2018. 12.6% Alc. Cellar up to 8 years.
